Anti-Inflammatory Enrolling
Study to evaluate BI 1291583 in adults with bronchiectasis (BI 1397-0014 (Airtivity))
This study will test the effectiveness, safety, and tolerability of BI 1291583, a drug intended to reduce inflammation in the lungs.
This study is randomized and placebo controlled. This means participants will be placed in one of two groups by chance. Some participants will receive BI 1291583 and some will receive a placebo. Researchers will measure the drug’s effectiveness by tracking pulmonary symptoms and lung function testing. Researchers will also track for any side effects.
This study may require lung function tests, daily diaries, and/or other measurements.

Other Primary Eligibility Criteria
Eligible participants will need to have had at least one pulmonary exacerbation requiring antibiotic treatment in the 12 months prior to enrollment. This study is enrolling both people with CF and people without CF that have bronchiectasis.
